The 7th Annual Emeril Lagasse Golf Classic Tournament
The beautiful and serene setting of Newport, RI, played host to the 7th Annual Emeril Lagasse Golf Classic. Born out of Chef Emeril Lagasse's commitment to give back to his alma mater, the Classic is a unique event benefiting the renowned chef’s endowed scholarship fund.
With the generous support of more than 60 donors, the 2009 event raised approximately $400,000 for the fund. Four scholarships were awarded to deserving culinary students from each of our campuses, pictured here (l-r) with Emeril: Amanda Shepard (Denver, Colo.), Brandon Snyder (Providence, RI), Justin Gregory (Charlotte, NC) and Jacqueline Martin-Rodriguez (North Miami, Fla.).
On behalf of University President John J. Bowen, tournament chairman Stephen J. Caldeira and Chef Emeril Lagasse, a sincere thank you goes out to all the attendees who joined us in this important endeavor. Thanks to your generosity and support, some of the most talented and well-deserving Johnson & Wales University students will be able to continue on their educational and career paths as they strive to become the industry leaders of tomorrow.
